Director General of NGO Secretariat Visits INSPIRED Project Beneficiary

A progress review meeting of Non-Governmental Organizations was held on November 20, 2021, at the Divisional Secretariat, in Ampara. This was an opportunity for The Asia Foundation and its community based-partner organization, Group Action for Social Order (GAFSO), to present their progress on the INSPIRED project.

Following the progress review meeting, the Director General of NGO Secretariat, Mr. Raja Goonaratne made an informal visit to the GAFSO office and requested to visit Ms. Ahamed Lebbe Rizana, a handloom business owner in Mawadippalli who took part in the INSPIRED project. During his visit he was able to observe first-hand the benefits afforded to beneficiaries through the project. He commended the success of the project and expressed his thanks to both The Asia Foundation and GAFSO for their valuable work. He also reflected on the importance of the project in uplifting the livelihoods of micro and small business owners and stressed that the project played a vital role in creating opportunities for national and small level industries.
